A Tangle of Tales - 7 - The White Trout
A Tangle of Tales - 7 - The White Trout
Another Celtic Tale, but this one from Ireland, finds a princess in the form of a trout. Some brigands come and turn the village upside down, and one, the leader, tries to catch the fish.
This is a well-known story from County Mayo on the West coast of Ireland.
This album was released in 2012, and garnered a Gold Award from Parent’s Choice. This album was recorded for those people who grew up with his first two recordings, and so are meant for a slightly older audience of 8 and up. There is one story which seemed fine for Simon’s 5 year old daughter, but not so fine for his 10 year old son (at the time). Both love the story now they are grown up. The story “The Piper’s Revenge” is a creepy one. The music which wraps itself around the stories is “The Waltz at the Edge of the World” written by Rachel Clark, and gifted to Simon, and a traditional piece called “Cold Snap” which seemed appropriate for “The Piper’s Revenge!
