A Tangle of Tales - 06 - The Piper's Revenge
Danny is a successful piper until the English over-lords banish the playing of the bagpipes. But he continues to play, despite risking his life. Danny almost dies in the frozen winter weather on his way home, but stops at the McCray’s farm. He plays a glorious joke on the McCray’s but does it backfire?
This is a creepy Scottish story which some people do not like hearing, but it is delicious for those who love these types of stories!
This album was released in 2012, and garnered a Gold Award from Parent’s Choice. This album was recorded for those people who grew up with his first two recordings, and so are meant for a slightly older audience of 8 and up. There is one story which seemed fine for Simon’s 5 year old daughter, but not so fine for his 10 year old son (at the time). Both love the story now they are grown up. The story “The Piper’s Revenge” is a creepy one. The music which wraps itself around the stories is “The Waltz at the Edge of the World” written by Rachel Clark, and gifted to Simon, and a traditional piece called “Cold Snap” which seemed appropriate for “The Piper’s Revenge!
